Thornell Corporation was founded in 1981 through research conducted at Cornell University on a product that would effectively eliminate skunk odor. The final product became Skunk-Off which is now noted throughout the veterinary community as the most safe and effective skunk odor elimination product available on the market today. Thornell research continued to develop other products that could be used for specific odor issues for dogs, cats, ferrets and premise applications. Requirements were that the products had to not only be effective for surface application but also safe when used directly on the pet. They also needed to be formulated so that when needed in a medical environment their effectiveness would not lessen when used in conjunction with detergents and disinfectants.
